A&A Legacy Care Services Request care

Non-medical home care, built around one person

Five kinds of help. Most people start with one and add another when the need changes.

A caregiver helping a woman fasten her cardigan in her bedroom.

Personal care

Bathing, dressing, grooming, shaving, oral and skin care, toileting, transfers, walking, and help with eating.

A caregiver brushing an older woman's hair while they talk.

Companionship

Conversation, shared activities, and a reliable presence in the house so the day has company in it.

A caregiver making the bed while the client rests in an armchair nearby.

Respite care

Short-term cover so a family caregiver can rest, work, travel, or handle an appointment without worrying.

A caregiver steadying a woman as she walks with a wheeled frame.

Specialized care

Non-skilled support shaped around one person's particular needs, so living independently stays realistic.

A caregiver cooking a meal in the kitchen while the client sits at the counter.

Help around the home

Meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, errands, shopping, and getting to appointments.

What personal care includes

Personal care is the hands-on category, and the regulation defines it specifically. It covers assistance with self-administered medication, feeding, oral, skin and mouth care, shaving, help with walking, bathing, hair care and grooming, dressing, toileting, and transfers.

What we cannot do

We are a non-skilled agency. The following are outside our licence, and we will refer you to a home health agency or a clinician instead:

  • Administering medication. We can hand you the bottle, open it, remind you, and steady your hand. We cannot decide the dose or put the pill in your mouth.
  • Injections, infusions, or anything involving a needle.
  • Wound care, catheter care, or ostomy care.
  • Skilled nursing assessment, physical therapy, or occupational therapy.
  • Any medical treatment or clinical judgement of any kind.

Scope per 28 Pa. Code §§ 611.5 and 611.3.

If your needs change

People's needs move. If yours moves past what a home care agency may legally do, we will tell you plainly and help you find a provider who can take it on. We will not quietly keep billing for care that is no longer the right care.

What it costs

Rates depend on the hours, the type of care, and how often. We will not quote you a number on a web page and then change it at the door.

Before care begins you receive the fees and the total cost, on an hourly and weekly basis, in writing, as part of the information packet. That is a requirement, and it is also just the decent way to do it.

Let us talk about what would actually help.

No cost, no obligation, and no pressure. Tell us what the week looks like and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.
